James Gavin's Cave

James Gavin was a noted Covenanter who lived in Douglas. He used this cave to hide from the dragoons on a number of occasions. His memorial is located in Douglas - click here for more information.

James Gavin's Cave was located by the side of the Arnesalloch Burn, which flows into the Douglas Water, one mile south west of the village. The site of the cave is difficult to locate and it is believed to have been blocked by a landslide some time ago.
