MacHaffie's Stone is a large boulder located by the side of a track to the west of Linfairn farm, overlooking the Palmullan Burn.

MacHaffie's Stone

This large boulder marks the spot where Thomas MacHaffie was shot in 1686. He had hid himself in a glen on the farm of Linfairn, but being seized with fever, and having taken refuge in a house near at hand, he was dragged out of his bed and shot on the road. His body was later buried in the kirkyard at Straiton, where two gravestones mark the spot.
