Montgreenan

Name of country house on site of older house, at the time of the Covenanters owned by Thomas Cunninghame. He was a noted Covenanter and was tried for being active at the Battle of Bothwell Bridge. He was sentenced to be executed at Edinburgh on April 1683. His estate was forfeited. Cunninghame received a reprieve, and was able to return home. He died in 1715.
