John Mathieson

 

Mathieson was the tenant of Rosehill. He was a supporter of the Covenant and was sentenced to banishment on 19 June 1684. He was held in prison for a time before being sent to Carolina from Greenock. He managed to escape and travelled through America to New York. He was able to return to Scotland in 1687. He died on 1 October 1709. His dying testimony was published in 1806.
