The grave of Daniel MacMicahel is located in the kirkyard of Durisdeer, in Dumfries-shire's Nithsdale. It is located against the south wall of the church. The original flat stone is typical of that erected by Robert Paterosn ('Old Mortality'), and a second stone stands alongside. At Nether Dalveen farm is a third memorial marking the spot where he was actually shot. The inscription on the Durisdeer stones read as follows:
HERE LIES DANIEL MC MICHAEL, MARTYR, SHOT DEAD AT DALVEEN BY SIR JOHN DALYEL FOR HIS ADHEREING TO THE ~ WORD OF GOD, CHRIST'S KINGLY GOVERNMENT IN HIS HOUSE: AND THE COVENANTED WORK OF REFORMATION AGAINST TYRANNY PERJURY AND PRELACY. 1685. REV. 12:11"
"AS DANIEL CAST WAS IN LYONS DEN FOR PRAYING UNTO GOD AND NOT TO MEN SO LYONS THUS CRUILLY DEVOURED ME FOR BEAIRING WITNES TO TRUTHS TESTIMONY I REST IN PEACE TILL JESUS REND THE CLOUD AND JUDGE TWIXT ME AND THOSE WHO SHED MY BLOOD"
Rev. 12:11 reads: "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death."
